| If you are like me, you probably have half your life stored on your computer. This is convenient, however, IF something should happen (i.e. virus, powersurge , etc.), it's nearly impossible to get back the info, unless you have a different computer to stick the hdd in. K, so what can ya do? You have LOTS of choices on this one. You can b/u to an extrernal hard drive, CD-R, even a flash thumb drive (as long as it's big enough, that is!!) So, heeeeere we go!! Go to START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>BACKUP. You will be asked if you want to always start in wizard mode. I would recommend you leave this alone until you know your way around the system. Click next. Back up should already be checked, if not, check mark it, and click next. Now, depending on what you want b/u, make a selection, and click next. You will now be asked to choose a save location. This really depends on you, all you need is enough room for what you want to b/u. Click browse. Now, choose your save spot (i.e. external hdd, disc). NOTE: If you want to create a b/u of your WHOLE computer, you MUST have a floppy drive for the restore discs!!! Click next, and make sure you have everything you want (I say this, 'cause if you have lots of info, it takes HOURS.....(I usually let mine run overnight)but it's worth it to not lose your stuff!!!! Happy Computing!!!! G. |
