Recent fixes, trials, errors

Hey everyone!! I was trying to decide where to put the recent fixes for newer issues that I come across, so I figured, why not do a full page dedicated to new stuff. With the release of Windows 7™, a new set of issues, as pretty much expected. Fantastic op system, though. The fixes listed on this page are for all MS op systems, but will concentrate on 7. Notes made where needed. The fixes ARE in development, so take them with a grain of salt, please. As I stated on the home page, I DO NOT post fixes unless I know they work, but 7 IS a new op system, so the fixes may change.
K, the first thing I noticed with my old friend Vista™, is one day it's fine, the next day, you get the message "windows could not search for updates". SIGHHHHH..... One thing you can TRY to remedy this, is create another user account with administrative privileges. To do this, Start>control panel>user accounts>create new account. That I have found will usually fix the update issue, but not always. It's worth a shot, either way. I haven't heard of the issue in a while, and personally won't use vista, so MS may have come up with a fix.
Next up, chkdsk constantly wants to run a check on startup. I have only 2 solutions for this one. 1 your disk is dying (yes, sadly, it does happen)A good reason to back up your files (which you should be doing anyway!!) This is for ALL MS O.S. 2 If you have a dual operating system setup, let it run on BOTH startups and, then restart. That happened on my machine recently, which runs xp, and 7 rc, so give it a shot
If you know of a better fix that works, please let me know. I'm not a professional, ya know!! I always appreciate knowledge, so if ya have an idea, shoot me an E-Mail!! As always, thanks for visiting!! G.
Drivers, Drivers,Drivers!!! If you've ever switched mobos or bought a used vid or sound card, you probably have noticed the hardware doesn't quite work right. Well, that's because most, if not all hardware you put into your machine must have the drivers to work right. Drivers are software programs that tell a certain piece of hardware what to do, and when to do it. Without them, graphics move slow, and sound cards may not work at all! I have made a small list of driver d-load sites for you to browse, but because of the HUGE amount of drivers for products, it's impossible to cover them all!! They are located on the free downloads page, and as always, I test SOME of them! It's up to you to scan the files FIRST with your antivirus/antispyware. (which I know you're running, right??!)
